10 things I've learned from Milton Glaser (part 1)

Obviously, these are things that Milton Glaser has learned through his life. Now I've learned from him. They are quite difficult to understand. Therefore, I just put up 5 things that I understand (5 others would be posted later). However, I might wrong at some points. If I am wrong, please let me know. The original Milton Glaser's 10 things article is in the link at the end.

1. YOU CAN ONLY WORK FOR PEOPLE THAT YOU LIKE.
This is about working with client. Milton Glaser believes that having a good relation with client would affect on the design work for them. The more we understand our client, the better design we would have.

2. IF YOU HAVE A CHOICE NEVER HAVE A JOB.
I'm not understand Mr. Glaser at this point. However, in my opinion, Milton Glaser want to talk about the experience. All experience people get through our life would help us in someway. Therefore, why don't we keep exploring new things?

3. SOME PEOPLE ARE TOXIC AVOID THEM.
I think this is about life experience. We have a lot of friends. Some are good and some are not. Therefore, choosing a good friend is necessary for us. Mr. Glaser suggests us to do that all our life time.

4. PROFESSIONALISM IS NOT ENOUGH or THE GOOD IS THE ENEMY OF THE GREAT.
This is a good advice for us. Never satisfy with what we have achieved (especially in design field). If we thing that our works are good and professional, we would never improve our creativities anymore. It would limit our inspiration. According to Milton Glaser, the failures is necessary for us to improve ourselves.

5. LESS IS NOT NECESSARILY MORE.
The term "Less is more." is non sense with Milton Glaser. "Just enough is more.", he said. In design works, We don't have much experience as Milton Glaser so that it's not easy to figure out which one is less, which one is enough. However, I would keep this in mind. Hope that I would understand in the future when I have more experience.
